Art Gallery Visit

The Waka We are In.

We enjoyed a fantastic day out, visiting the museum and the Christchurch Art Gallery where we viewed and discussed a range of interesting art works, followed by a lesson in their classroom.

Writers Have Something to Say

Writing to the Minister

After our trip to Orana Park we read an article in The Press that talks about the affect of Palm Oil farms on the habitat of tigers. We are writing letters to the Minister of Health and Food Safety asking that "Vegetable oil"  in products be labelled as palm oil - and even ethically grown palm oil if that is the case.

"Thank you" Letters

Here is a small sample of the excellent letters written by Room 4 thanking their Zoo School teachers.

Term 3

Orana Park

We have been very fortunate to visit Orana Park Earlier this term. Room's 3 and 4 spent the day visiting with the amazing Zoo School and learning about ways to group animals. The reptile house and the gorilla's were a firm favourite, until we feed the giraffe's. Thanks to our zoo school teachers, Petra, Denise and Elaine the day flew past and the learning has continued on into the classroom.

Matariki

Poi Making

Cooperation was a focus for this learning time. We did some research and then worked together to collect materials, and then in teams we helped to make a poi for each of us. We love the sound as they battered against our bodies during waiata.
Thanks to our excellent, in class teachers who have been to Kapa Haka, Gizelle, Lilianna, Nistha, Roimata and Makenzie.
